Contemplating...

I'm thinking about listing my paintings for sale. I've never been into the idea of painting as a means of making an income, or any form of art for that matter. For me it adds too much pressure and I much prefer to create whatever it is that I do for myself and then later decide if I want to share it or not. I can't even create something for a specific person or purpose, because that's not where my creativity comes from. I'm more what is commonly called an intuitive artist. I treat painting like a form of meditation, it relaxes me, clears my mind, and sometimes brings shit to the surface.

So all this thought has come about since I left my full time job last June. I now only work part-time and that has given me alot of time for painting, studying and researching. Not to mention having time to do all the other things I love so much!

This thought is amplified even further by the fact that I live in an area surrounded by artists. I work in a town filled with art stores and galleries. My dream is to one day have my work displayed in a gallery, if not for any other reason, just to see all my work together in a gallery environment would be awesome :D Certainly not ego driven cos I wouldn't even care if anyone else saw it (but it would be kinda cool to have an art show ;)

So I've found a couple of sites where I can set up an online gallery and list my work for sale. Now I'm faced with the next hurdle... How on earth do I price them??? I don't have a clue! None!

Totally confused and overwhelmed. Thanks for reading my rant :)

I have need to express myself, the way in which I choose to do this is thru painting. No conscious thought is involved at anytime. I love music, and I hear music in colour, that's the best way to describe where the imagery comes from - good music! Painting, for me, is like a form of meditation :)
